Students at the Center: Personalized Learning with Habits of Mind

By Bena Kallick, Allison Zmuda
January 24, 2017

This archived webinar from the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) discusses the book Students at the Center: Personalized Learning with Habits of Mind, written by Bena Kallick and Allison Zmuda. The authors discuss the four attributes they feel are critical to personalized learning: voice, cocreation, social construction, and self-discovery. They note that a school culture should include a commitment to student voice, provide opportunities for students to cocreate their learning experiences, develop students’ social construction through connections to many types of resources and expertise, and make certain that self-discovery becomes a driver of students learning.

This webinar includes practical examples and potential actions relevant to educators at a variety of levels of implementation of personalized learning. The webinar is approximately one hour, and registration is required to watch the video and download handouts.
