In this webinar Dr. Ken Springer, Professor of Education and Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, will provide an introduction to culturally responsive teaching (CRT)and how to apply it in the classroom. CRT consists of instructional practices that acknowledge the particular cultural background of each student. Students often differ from each other, and from their teachers, in cultural values, traditions, and experiences. Successful instruction depends on sensitivity to these differences as well as the ability to draw on them in the creation of supportive educational environments for all students. The first part of the edWebinar will introduce the basic principles of CRT. The second part will cover a range of strategies and tips for putting CRT into practice in group as well as individual interactions with ELL/EFL students, in exchanges with parents, and in instructional settings ranging from large classrooms to online tutoring sessions.
This webinar presentation will be of interest to preK-12 educators. The online event will take place on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT. Registration is required.
