In this webinar, Lizzie Choi, Chief Program Officer of Summit Learning, and a principal/educator will discuss the journey of developing Summit Learning. Summit Public Schools, a California-based charter school network, believes that personalized learning empowers teachers and helps students build the skills they need to succeed in college, career, and life. Summit has set out to replicate its success, by offering other schools free tools, training, and support to transform themselves. The centerpiece of Summit’s franchising effort is their Personalized Learning Platform, or PLP, a free, open-source learning management system that boasts a full curriculum for grades 6 through 12, including projects, online learning resources, and tests.
The webinar will cover what Summit looks like in action, and why each of its components (authentic projects, competency-based progression, and mentoring) are essential to empowering students to be self-directed learners and gain the skills, knowledge, and habits to succeed. This webinar will provide a deep understanding of the “what,” “why,” and “how” of personalized learning and actionable strategies for instruction and implementation. Participants will leave the webinar with concrete next steps of bringing personalized learning to students.
It will take place on Thursday, February 23 at 3 p.m. EST and benefit educators and school administrators interested in tangible and proven tools, resources, support, and partnerships to advance personalized learning in middle and high schools. The event is free, but preregistration is required. If you register but are unable to attend, audio and materials from the webinar will be available after the event. After participating, you will be emailed a Continuing Education certificate.
