A Guide for Parents: Helping Your Child Succeed in School

By Academic Development Institute
June 18, 2015

This short guide, developed in 2006, provides parents with tips to support their children’s learning. It addresses relationships, routine, and expectations at home as well as the parent/school interactions that support academic development such as communication, participation in activities, and support for homework.

Note: The guide also offers advice on how to understand No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and state standards, which is a policy no longer in existence. However, there are tips and action items throughout, as well as questions to ask school leaders or teachers, that any parent under any education policy or act can find useful.
