This resource offers parents tips to cope with their own and their children’s anxiety. The articles summarize the information provided during an online presentation for a group of Colorado parents by Dr. Amy Lopez and Dr. Scott Cypers from the stress and anxiety programs at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center.

They discuss four ways in which anxiety works to “trick” the brain and ways to overcome the influence of anxiety. They also offer suggestions for decreasing isolation, checking in with kids and lowering expectations. The advice offered is specific to families coping with stress stemming from the pandemic but could be useful for parents at any time.
