This article describe the online tool developed by the Big Picture Learning network to help their schools facilitate and manage internship experiences for their students. The tool, called ImBlaze, includes a searchable database of internship opportunities. Students, then use a phone app to log hours and set goals. The app also encourages more communication between mentors, students, and the school. The tool allows internship coordinators to get both a birds-eye view of the program and access to more data they can use to gauge the success of individual internships. At the same time, students are still in the driver’s seat, in charge of initiating connections, communicating, and tracking progress.
This article provides an overview of how this tool works, making it a great read for the leadership of any school struggling to manage internships or looking to grow a new or bigger program.
