The Massachusetts Personalized Learning Edtech Consortium (MAPLE) is an initiative of the LearnLaunch Institute and the Massachusetts Department of of Elementary & Secondary Education. This public-private partnership was launched to encourage exchange between peers and increase implementation of student-centered learning tactics and tools in schools across the state. The program has brought together 15 “catalyst districts”. The group hopes to:

  • Create a professional network for districts
  • Share practices and products that work
  • Build public will
  • Disseminate research
  • Provide policy guidance

This EdSurge article discusses the progress made by MAPLE in its first year of existence, as well as concerns voiced by the MA teachers union.

Their first report, Landscape Analysis of Personalized Learning in Massachusetts, inventories known practices and digital infrastructure that support personalized learning in K-12 MA districts. It provides a preliminary attempt to understand district readiness and progress on the pathway to personalizing learning.

This consortium, and any resources it creates, may be of most interest to researchers and leaders at the state, district, and school levels in MA. However, other states may be interested in the private-public model for this state-wide learning network.  The EdSurge article sheds light on benefits and potential concerns.
