The Great Schools Partnership, a nonprofit school-support organization working to redesign public education, has developed a toolkit for school and district leaders to support transition to a proficiency-based system. A section titled ‘Materiales en Español/ Spanish Language Resources’ includes a number of tools translated into Spanish. The following may be of particular interest:
- Aprendizaje basado en la adquisición de competencias: un modelo simplificado (Proficiency-Based Learning Simplified: How It Works) which provides a foundational structure that will help schools prioritize learning goals and build a more coherent academic program, and
- Diez principios del aprendizaje basado en la adquisición de competencias (Ten Principles of Proficiency-Based Learning) which describes the common features found in the most effective proficiency-based systems.
The tools in this section can be accessed directly by parents, or used by school leaders and teachers to educate Hispanic parents or community members about a shift to competency education. This section will continue to grow as the Great Schools Partnership works to translate additional proficiency-based learning resources into Spanish.
