Guidance on Culturally Responsive Remote Education

As millions of students across the United States transition into remote learning, now is the time to critically engage the systems we’ve set up to implement these online educational opportunities. Given how this pandemic is exacerbating pre-existing vulnerabilities in our communities, it’s critical that we establish systems capable of reducing rather than widening educational inequities. To help, NYU Metro Center just released the Guidance on Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Remote Education (CRSE) resource.

This website and its downloadable guidelines include descriptions of what remote CRSE is plus crucial insights into what students, educators, families, and administrators should be thinking and doing to establish an equitable remote experience. Also, if you have additional CRSE resources related to remote learning and would like to add them to the website, please email Leah Peoples, Research Director, NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools (leah.peoples@nyu.edu).
