Hosted by Dr. Alfredo Palacios from the College of Education at Auburn University, the Theory of Change podcast is for counselors and counselor educators who are looking for inspiration and resources pertaining to the profession of counseling.
In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Carlos Hipolito-Delgado, an associate professor of counseling at the University of Colorado Denver, and a Student-Centered Learning Research Collaborative grantee, discusses his research on sociopolitical development (SPD) and transformative student voice (TSV). He describes how SPD and TSV can be tools for marginalized communities to address social inequities. Dr. Hipolito-Delgado explains how to create conditions for students to claim control of their learning and to use their voice to influence important issues that impact their lives, with the ultimate goal of supporting youth as they become engaged and empowered civic leaders.
